Nature of Incident

In-person harrassment, slurs or threats of violence

Went to Charlie Bear nightclub in the Gateway at The Ohio State University. Doormen harassed me and would not let me enter the bar because of my hat. Dress code clearly said no flat bills. However, my hat was curved to the point that it was clearly not flat. Whites in line were wearing hats backward, sideways, all directions that in addition, were flatter than mine, but were allowed entry without question. I put my hat into a bush nearby and came back with no hat, and was still refused entry, along with racial slurs of harassment and unneeded profanity, even though I did not have a hat. Was still not allowed to enter. This tells me that the dress code here is aimed to keep blacks out of the club, which is unfair and wrongly denys access to many. Witnessed other black individuals being turned down because of the length of their shorts, while whites with shorts just as long are allowed to enter.
