Nature of Incident
Other
I became very sick with female medical problems and did not have insurance. The ER would not give me the needed tests and told me to go to a clinic. I went to a clinic in Los Angeles, CA. When I walked in the room was packed and all the patients were Hispanic. The people working there were Hispanic, too. They were extremely rude to me when I said that I wanted to make an appointment. They made me wait forever and then told me I would have to wait three months. I told them I was very sick and could not wait 3 months and they just shrugged their shoulders. I saw another woman come in and get an appointment much sooner. She was Hispanic. I feel that I was denied care that my taxpayer dollars pay for because I am white. This was flagarant discrimination. This was a health issue. There is no place for discrimination, but certainly not when it comes to people's health. I did not see one black, Asian, white or any other race at that clinic, although it is the largest clinic at the health dept. for women in L.A. Are they all being discriminated against, too?
